COG Gas (Coke Oven Gas)
Coke Oven Gas (COG) is a combustible by-product of producing coke from coal.
How It's Made
- Coal is heated in a reducing atmosphere, releasing COG while leaving carbon-rich coke.
Uses
- Industrial fuel and methanol feedstock.
- Can be used in gas turbines for power generation.
Safety
- Contains carbon monoxide; proper ventilation and monitoring are critical.
- Use non-sparking tools to reduce ignition risks.
